The projects
Two exhibitions by Molly Marina explore how photography can make room for people’s own stories. Discover the form of each exhibition, the places they occupied and the artistic thread between them.
From a city square to a personal encounter.
100Portraits
2023 · Power Women of Copenhagen · City Hall Square, Copenhagen

100 women. More than one view.
In 2023, 100Portraits, also known as Power Kvinder KBH, brought portraiture into Copenhagen’s shared public space. Photographs appeared on freestanding columns on City Hall Square. The format made viewing a physical experience: walk around a work, discover another face and approach a story from a different angle.
An exhibition with no single entrance
The square was part of the work. People passing through the city could pause at a portrait without first choosing to visit a gallery or an art institution. The columns brought different faces into one shared setting while allowing individual stories to emerge within the larger group.
From a face to a story
The project’s 100 women were explored through 400 photographic images. Seeing a face in different expressions opens a question: how much do we think we know about someone from a single picture? Portraits and personal perspectives invite us to stay with that question rather than settle for a label.

2025 · Kongens Nytorv, Copenhagen

A blue container on Kongens Nytorv
Powernator continued this exploration in 2025. From 28 June to 3 July, a blue exhibition container beside the Royal Danish Theatre became a space for portraits, stories and graphic works. Red and blue patterns gave the photographs a new visual rhythm while the city carried on just outside.
Power as a personal question
The 86 people in the digital project speak from different lives and experiences. Their portraits, chosen symbols and music offer several ways to encounter them. Power becomes something to explore through another person’s words and perspective, rather than a single quality that someone either possesses or lacks.
Different forms. A shared curiosity.
100Portraits spread encounters across columns in an open square; Powernator gathered them inside a container that visitors could enter. Both projects connect a photograph with the voice behind the face. Their own websites offer deeper encounters with the participants, while Powerpeople Art brings together the artistic relationship between the exhibitions.
